A few friends of mine have an organization called Youth Federalist Initiative. They conduct civic engagement seminars for youth 11 and up through college. The organization is aimed at teaching young people how to take on leadership roles or simply engage is civics. They are a conservative organization. I would like to share the information about their next seminar with you coming up in July. I hope some of you may have an interest. Please help us get the word out & share with any you think might be interested!
We are looking for the Apologia Biology book (3rd edition) that will be used for the HSE biology class this fall. If you have a copy of the 3rd edition that you would like to sell, please contact Lynee Graves <Lynee_Graves@msn.com>
The kids have set pricing on their naturally raised 4-H meats.
~ Beef will be $3.50 per pound "on the hoof" (live weight) and sold in quarters. Weight was taken on 5/30 at 1170 and 1125 pounds. Finish weight estimate revised to be 1300 pound range. Weight-in at Fair is currently scheduled August 4th. Price will be based on that day’s weight. Animals are not going to the processor for an additional 1-2 weeks post Fair and will gain a little in that time, however, the price will not increase. We have added non-GMO wheat germ oil to their ration. It is ok to go in with another family, however, the processor is not able to cut in 1/8ths. It will be up to those families to decide how to share. :)
~ Pork is $3.25 per pound, also "on the hoof". These also look to finish a little smaller than previously estimated, around 230-250. We added organic fermented barely to their ration.
~ Goat will be $400-$500 per animal. Animals were weighed 6/16 and are on target for finish weight estimates (70-90), possibly a little heavier. The weights were 56, 64 and 85.
Again, these weights are estimates to help with budgeting.
Processing fees to be paid by purchaser and are based on 'hanging weight' and customization (seasonings, tenderizing, burger patties, etc.).
The kids have guaranteed processing dates for their animals.
All animals will be delivered to the processor for you but must be picked up by purchaser at the processor. I do not have the freezer space to store the meat.
It's fly season! We use fly predators, fly traps, diatomaceous earth and essential oils for fly control - NO CHEMICALS.
PLEASE contact us with any questions! We are happy to share information on how the process works and how we raise our animals. (firstname.lastname@example.org landline 303-816-1058)
